These Oceanmax bio balls are 8–10mm hollow plastic spheres that give beneficial bacteria a large surface to colonise, boosting the biological stage of your filter. Nitrifying bacteria convert ammonia and nitrite into far less harmful nitrates — the process that keeps an aquarium or fish tank safe for its inhabitants.
They suit canister filters, sumps, hang-on units and pond filters: anywhere you need more biological capacity without restricting flow. Rinse them gently in old tank water and reuse them.
